apparently ‘the last comic standing‘ was in town the other day (sunday) for some auditions for the upcoming season. they stopped into my buddy jenny’s ice cream shoppe, pied piper creamery, in east nashville to film a segment. which is very cool. if you haven’t stopped by there yet, you need too. not sure what the segment is about & whether or not it will make the final cut for the actual airing of the show. still, we have the picture.
at this weekend’s youth ministers gathering we were showing off funny or interesting youtube videos. i was showing off the potter puppet pals, now i can’t get this song out of my head! maybe that is why i had a headache yesterday.
this is.. interesting.. odd.. a history of war, displayed with food. it took me a bit to figure out the food symbolism, but i am not having a very smart night. via bob
i am currently searching out for some candidates to help out as a summer intern with our youth ministry. if you know of a young adult who would be up for hanging out with us at hendersonville first umc i am interested in catching up with them. below is a little write up that has been in our church newsletter and will start circulating out and about after today.
The Youth Ministry Team of the FUMC of Hendersonville is seeking a dynamic and gifted young person to support our ministry of the church over the summer of 2008.
Ministry opportunities within the job will include mission trip experiences (jr high / sr high), the not so mystery mystery trip, choir tour, vacation bible school, leading weekly events, various office duties, and
drinking coffee (or hip drink of choice) with the youth ministers of the church.
it goes on to say, email me if you know someone who may be interested. candidates do not need to be ministry candidate people or living in hendersonville. proximity is helpful, but we could work out housing details if needed.
for the interview process i would like a cover letter and resumes by March 9th. then the youth team that we pull together will choose folks for interviews (in person or by phone) and will choose whom they wish to hire for the summer intern position. compensation is, i think, $2500 for the summer which works out pretty well when many of your meals and travels are covered.
