the folks @ home ec 101 are celebrating one year and having a give away contest. all you need to do is leave a comment to enter. strange that i almost graduated from the home economics college at ua. but alas, we turned into human environmental sciences. so much more formal.
monday music : rem : supernatural superserious
i am making some decisions to cut out the talking in my life. getting rid of many podcast subscriptions, trimming the time i listen to talk or sports radio… after a few years of this stuff, i think i allowed myself to get drowned in just a lot of jabbering. so i’ve returned to some of my music roots and why not share. as dixon would say, "this my indie band that went mainstream. what am i to do with that?"
out of ideas : blogging projects to try out
chris brogan has a cool list of 20 projects to put together for your blog. the ones that i am going to entertain in the coming weeks.
- My Town – Take us on a photo tour showing us 5-7 things that would make a new visitor to your town happy to see.
- Share Five Friends– Show us five friends’ blogs and give us a blurb on why you like them.
- My Mother, My Daughter – Doesn’t have to be
exactly this, but the idea is to interview your parent and your child,
and ask them five questions to compare their perspectives. (thinking i would do this with my youth) - My Media Making Process – Show us your podcasting or videoblogging or photoblogging (or whatever) setup, and talk us through the procedure.
- A Cause to Connect – Share your social cause of choice, and give us a background, the challenge they face, and ways to connect and be helpful.
- Without Words – Can you post a story told completely in pictures? How about sounds?
brilliant! what if we didn’t have the laptop? what would starbucks do
by now you have seen the improveverywhere folks stoppage of time at grand central station. awesome! on a smaller scale, what would happen if we didn’t have laptops? would people cart their desktop computers around to the local starbucks to work & surf the internet? what are peoples reactions? i think this is just a brilliant toy with a non hip cultural act in the hip cultural environment. brilliant!
back from the snow
had a whirlwind trip up to the ski slopes and back again. due to some other events we moved our ski trip to a new weekend with a new format. we left friday after school, and did a little late late night skiing, off to bed and then back again in the morning for a full day, then drove home. it was a great trip. the 22 youth and leaders had a great time all were worn out, some bruises, and a ton of stories.
i’ve posted pictures from the trip into this flickr set.
