stumbled across this story covering the various church & spiritual experiences found in secondlife. i’ve chronicled here many times my happenings in secondlife. its been a few months since i ‘hung out’ there so it was like seeing an old friend as they visited the anglican cathedral and seeing other creative spaces that make up the imagination of the virtual world.

that was a really interesting video…thanks for sharing that.
I never would have thought people would go to church on secondlife. It makes me wanna join.

Thomas McKenzie says
It seems to me that a disembodied church is oxymoronic. Second Life churches, multi-site preachers beamed by satellite, watching the Mass on TV rather than going–sounds like stuff concocted in Hell.

levi, from my experiences which are limited to some, more than others, i’ve prayed for people i’ve met in sl and they were quite shocked when i remembered their avatar name and that they asked me to pray for them, which led to some good open conversations which may or may not have been healthy counseling/healing for them. i’m not a huge fan of sl being an alternative to a real live family of people.. though i believe we will see this virtual or internet church behavior stick around, as sect type numbers.
thomas, i think we talked about this once with lifechurch.tv and the question of.. is there no good preaching of the word in your area that you have to resort to watching tv of person in the southwest?.. i don’t mind it as an alternative or add on, or some entrance back into a physical expression. i don’t know if Christ would be all too thrilled about “this image is my body, act like you drink & eat it”
