Visited Church of the Resurrection, the largest United Methodist Church in the United States back in 2006. Took some photos of their youth room space, which was their prior sanctuary space. It was huge and sees a few thousand kids for their worship services.
Very industrial snack bar area with the corrugated steel and chrome tear drop lighting.
Not sure many churches that can have a basketball court/net in their youth ministry room. But it’s an idea. Why not.
The round tables are more expensive, usually, but they are known to promote more fluid small group conversations. You can also see the main stage area as well as the large sound and visual control booth.
I am tickled by this sign saying the the one gaming unit was out of order when their were some 20 others that apparently were in order. Have no idea where they got the plexiglass game unit containers but I’m guessing they found them from some retail store display distributor.
Not sure if this was a regular thing, the coffee station or just there because of the conference that brought me there. Notice the track lighting on the ceiling. Curves in general can be a cool affect to a room that seems otherwise boxy’.
Seriously, it’s a rock wall.. What teen boy is not going to geek out about that..
Here’s a bunch of internet stations hooked into some trendy tables and chairs. The tornado centerpieces I’m guessing are lighting.. But maybe it’s just a design effect.
Small conversation areas are good for those ‘hang out’ times in the in-betweens of youth ministry programming.
Their 2nd level, balcony, to their worship/gathering space was filled up with pool tables, game units, ping pong tables and all kinds of other recreational items.
If you are going to have a basketball court & a rock wall, why can’t you have a skate park within your youth ministry room? I suppose you can. These days you can buy pre-fab ramps that could fit the bill. But don’t forget the skate park rules.
