today i spent time online with tim & others in tim’s organized weekly skypecast. it was cool, my microphone worked the whole time this week. the first time i plugged into the skypecast the microphone crapped out after about 10 minutes and i did the chat thing. good conversation with those involved, but one moment took the platform for me as interesting.
frank, who has participated in the skypecasts was talking about his town in delaware. i mentioned to him that i used to hang out in a town down there he might be familiar with.. (took me a bit to remember the name).. dagsboro. there was a little silence and he reponds.. that’s where i work. whoa!
dagsboro is a strange place in my teen years. this is the town that my friend mike and his family (mom & little brother) were forced to move to when his step dad kicked them all out of their house in the town we were growing up in. they moved there to live in an area that was essentially an established modular house park.. not quite trailer park. just trying to remember the name took me back to all kinds of good and not so good memories. so wonderful and not so wonderful people. knowing the demise of my friend, and the people he & we (my group of friends) befriended, i know there are numerous broken teenagers there.
after work i made it home and was mowing my lawn before the weekend. while mowing julianne the neighbor who will actually talk to us and give us the gossip about us stopped by to talk about what to bring for monday’s block party. i mentioned that i wanted to cook some brats and pasta salad. she called our for her husband and mentioned "your fellow jersey boy is going to cook brats for monday." again reminded, craig is from riverside new jersey, a small town a few miles from where i grew up in cinnaminson. again, many stories.. who would have thought i’d move 900 miles away and find myself next to a guy who grew up some 5-8 miles from me.

Yeah, I grew up in Doylestown, PA, and spent a lot of time in NJ. Directed Angel Tree camp at Camp Haluwasa in Hammondton, NJ, for a summer after college, too. Used to ride my bike to Frenchtown every other week or so while in high school and a good friend of mine lived in Egg Harbor.
