I had a really cool blessing at this years National Youth Worker Convention here in Nashville. I was asked to take photos for the convention, specifically the “Big Room” settings. Here’s a review of the National Youth Workers Convention, in Images. –gavin

Photo of Week

November 13, 2010 By Gavin Richardson

This is cheating somewhat, because this photo wasn’t taken this week, but back in August. However, my dad took this one and I just saw it for the first time when he was staying at our house this week for some work related training here in Nashville. It’s pretty safe to say that Brooks likes his balloons.

Photo of the Week : Brooks at the USS Arizona

As I’m mining through the photos from last weeks “work” trip to Hawaii, this one jumped out to me as a real gem from the week. This is our little man Brooks standing in front of the Marines Corps list of names at the USS Arizona memorial in pearl Harbor. Brooks by all accounts didn’t observe the silence rule that we were given by the park ranger. That made for just another interesting stop along the way with a 14mo old.

a little photography help : what to buy?

August 25, 2009 By Gavin Richardson

so over the spring we had some unfortunate incidents at our church where we experienced a rash of thefts. one of the items stolen was my nikon d70. needless to say i was confused & upset when it was stolen. well, after a long standing time where we were deciding whether or not my camera was personal or work related by church insurance, it looks as i'll be getting back into the market again for a replacement camera.

so, i am taking suggestions from my photography friends as to a suitable replacement to my d70. some purchase thoughts

  • like the nikon size, cannons handle feel designed for smaller hands (not that mine are super huge)
  • can't spend huge amount of money
  • needs to have an automatic setting for the wifey to use
  • can't downsize to lesser camera once i've dipped into the higher end
