The Songs I Walk With

I was thinking yesterday what it might be like to do a sermon or testimony based solely on the songs that speak to and walk with you during stages of your life and faith walk.

Well, I don’t think anyone wants to hear me actually try to play & sing some of those songs in a live format, but seems like a cool reflection point to share here.

My 90′s
Rich Mullins | Step by Step

To this day I still want to learn to play a hammer dulcimer. Was a true loss for us here the day Rich died.

Jennifer Knapp | Refine Me
(though this is not JK, but a good cover)

Early 2000′s
Bebo Norman | the Hammer Holds

David Gray | Babylon

Mid to Late 2000′s
Taize’ | Bless the Lord

The seeds of my contemplative side take root. I really could put in a host of Taize’ songs here.

Couldn’t find a youtube clip for it, but Stephen Iverson’s Prayer album was significant.

2010′s to today
Matisyahu | One Day

This has pretty much been my anthem, and at times, prayer for the last two plus years.

Dispatch | Elias (not a new to the 2010′s decade, but its when i discovered them)

Every now and then we need a little jam band.

Any every now and then you need a little

Rich Mullins via Phil Stacey | Hold Me Jesus
