update: what ended up happening is that the minority report got voted as the majority for the delegate floor. then, while rules were suspended, there was no debate and the minority report (which just became majority) went to vote and got a very slim approval, keeping, and somewhat recessing back our not-so-inclusive language. steve rankin has a nice perspective and history.

update 2: noticed that blake huggins has put together as accurate as he could the new stance on human sexuality.

currently our church is in debate over our next four years of church doctrine dealing homosexuality & the church. this is the particular petition. in there it is just remarkable to see the differences in legislative majority and minority.

this will get beat up as it is currently on the floor. so it will be interesting to see how all this turns out. i pray for some idea of recognizing all people as faithful witnesses. for me, the debate of homosexuality is not so clear cut. i’m okay with claiming confusion. it’s a okay place to be.

    i don’t know what the vote to adopt the minority report language does more of? but i’ll figure it out. when is dinner?

  5. the vote to adopt the minority report removes the majority report from consideration. The vote then becomes a vote to either to adopt or reject the newly approved language as the committee report. In other words, paragraph 161G has been replaced by the minority report as amended.

  11. Agreed as well, majority report language was FAR better. I believe that this will be a set back for our church.
    BTW Eddie Fox was allowed to ramble on for 10 minutes about his minority report.

  13. We have believed for nearly two thousand years that homosexuality is a sin. What new scripture have we found that should change our position on this. The scripture is not ambiguous. Whether you are a christian or believe in evolution, homosexuality if left to itself cannot sustain life, i.e. same sex couples can not reproduce and therefore this would end. This is a behavioral issue.

Whether you are a christian or believe in evolution, homosexuality if left to itself cannot sustain life, i.e. same sex couples can not reproduce and therefore this would end.   15. hi “C” who is the “we” you speak of? if you are throwing out “sustaining life” as a means for gaining Gods blessing then what do you have to say about a barren women or sterile man? someone who has had cancer (ie. my cousin) at a young age and cannot bear anymore children.. to me that is a trite argument.
    do i have some revelations? sure, how bout this monk friend of mine’s translations.. not that his interpretations are correct, but it does put into question that our blatant four our five scripture verses that are used in defense of a narrative story of God’s love for us and constant searching of God’s will.
    i don’t have any intention of trying to change your mind in this comment. from what i’ve found people have made up their mind and this is a black and white issue. for me, it’s not and so, i try faithfully to live out the love of Christ displayed for me. and if that includes reconciling with people whom our church institutions have hurt, then that is what i will be doing.
