i am saddened to hear of your passing. though might have had a disability you were the big man on campus and we knew it.

"For someone who never played or coached a game, I
think John Mark may have touched more Alabama fans than any
other person ever did," said Mal Moore, current UA
athletics director and former assistant football coach.

though we never talked or met i too am impacted by your leaving. it is always a nicer world when you know that folks like you are still in it.

On 5th September I will be going to the wedding of my great-niece, and her email tells me that she has asked her Minister to mention her older brother, Stephen, in the service. Though Stephen lived for 21 years, I never saw a flicker of recognition from him and I used to wonder why the doctors had let him live. Yet to his sister and their parents (who had to do everything for him all those years) he was so precious that Nicola feels she wants him to be part of her special day!

    i had a cousin, chris, who had severe cp. he was in a wheelchair and rather unresponsive most of the life that i knew him.
    one day in my twenties i was in memphis and stopped by to see the extended family. they were remodeling some office space for a new business. i remember seeing chris in the middle of the floor on a blanket laying there making noises that one couldn’t under stand. then my uncle gets down next to chris and says “look chris, cousin gavin is here” in a little whisper and he just lit up with a big smile and started shifting and kicking letting off screams. it was at that moment i saw how human he was. sad to say he didn’t live much longer after that (but he was well past predicted his life span) and it was a very sad time for our family.
