so many of you know that i do the twitter thing now. well on saturday i wrote this.
i noticed today that i had this reply from, none other than southwestair.
wasn’t sure what they wanted to hear, so i told them the truth.
so this is their response.
i’ve been a fan of southwest for a long time. i love the hearding lines, the 24 hour check in that i always forget. mostly though, the cheaper prices and the fact that they try to have some fun doing those mundane tasks over the flight experience. never would i have imagined that i would be engaging in some customer service via twitter.. my how the world has changed.

That is crazy! It seems to me that “stink” is little expression for relating the emotions of missing your son’s graduation though?! How do you make up for that?

The boarding by herding is actually a cost saving measure to decrease the amount of time the plane sits on the ground. They’ve got this new thing that they do now where you line up in some kind of order based on a number and a letter (instead of just basic groups). I too forget to check in advance and end up sitting in the way-back of the plane.
But I would definitely call customer relations. Just double check the phone number with Southwest’s site, just to watch out for Phishing!

Gavin, Southwest has been our airline of choice for many, many years. They have never failed in their attempts to correct a wrong. (Example: our flight was late in arriving, and when our luggage appeared, it was damaged beyond functionality. A check-in with Customer Service before leaving the airport resulted in a brand new set of luggage on the spot for us!)
I’m not surprised that they tweet, because they have a great blog, too. Plus, I once quoted one of their employees in my blog, and she left a cute comment.

i don’t know if they put out special offers jeffrey, i’m following them now as they are me.
jennifer, that is the part that just doesn’t make it worth it.
jeremy, i understand the boarding by herd. there are days when i would just have a seat. oh well.
vicki, that is great. one of the reasons we like southwest is the ways they move outside of the norms of big corporate behavior.
